How to back up your Adobe Portfolio before you leave (2026)

Adobe Portfolio has no download button, but you do not have to lose anything: back it up by hand with the checklist below, or move the whole site without rebuilding it.

The short answer

Adobe Portfolio has no export, but your site can migrate without rebuilding it by hand: Promtfolio reads it from its link and rebuilds it as a site you own. See it free at promtfolio.com; $39 once, plus tax where it applies, then change anything with AI. A manual backup: your /sitemap.xml, each page as PDF, your words and original images.

Why can't I download my Adobe Portfolio site?

Adobe Portfolio does not offer a way to download or export a site. Its help center has no article on either, and the only move it documents is between Adobe accounts. And when your Creative Cloud plan ends, the site stays up for 14 days and then goes offline. So the right time to back up is before you cancel, while the site is still live.

How do I back up my Adobe Portfolio, step by step?

1. Get the full page list

Open your site address followed by /sitemap.xml, for example yourname.myportfolio.com/sitemap.xml. Adobe Portfolio publishes a sitemap that lists the public pages. Copy the addresses into a spreadsheet: one row per page, with a column to tick when it is saved. Password protected pages will not appear there, so add them by hand.

2. Save every page as a PDF

Open each page and use your browser's Print, then Save as PDF. It keeps the text, the order of images and the layout as they looked, which is the closest thing to a snapshot you can keep. Name the files with the page address so they stay in order.

3. Copy your words into one document

Your about text, every project description, credits, client names, roles, dates and image captions. This is the part people lose most often, and the part that is hardest to rewrite from memory.

4. Gather your original images

The images on the site are web versions and may be smaller than what you uploaded. Your originals live where you made them: your computer, Creative Cloud, Lightroom, or client folders. Put them in one folder per project, named like the page. Community scripts that pull every image off a Portfolio site exist, but they may conflict with Adobe's terms, so check before you use one.

5. Write down your settings

  • Where your custom domain is registered, and who controls its DNS.
  • Any analytics ID, contact form address, or password protected page.
  • Your site title, description and favicon, as they appear in search results.

6. Keep the old site live until the new one is ready

Do not cancel Creative Cloud until your new site is published and your domain points to it. That way nobody who clicks an old link lands on nothing.

A backup keeps your work safe. It does not give you a new site. For that, see how to move off Adobe Portfolio and the portfolio tools compared for 2026.

Is there a faster way to move the whole site?

Promtfolio was built for this moment. Paste your link and see your site rebuilt, free and with no signup: the whole home page with every project, and the inside page of three projects. The inside pages of the other projects open when the site is yours, for $39 once, plus tax where it applies, with no subscription. Once it's yours, change anything with AI.

When you own it, you can download the whole site as plain files, images included, which is also the backup this checklist builds by hand.

What does Promtfolio do, exactly?

As of

What it is
A web app that rebuilds a portfolio from its link as a site you own. Once it is yours, you change anything with AI: in the studio with credits, whichever way you choose, and with Claude Code or Codex too (Take it with you). Made by Merav Shaked, a designer and art director (meravish.com).
Works with
Adobe Portfolio (a myportfolio.com address or your own domain), a regular portfolio site, including self-hosted WordPress when each project has its own page and Carbonmade, a site on github.io, a one-page portfolio, a shared Google Photos album, and an Instagram export, the .zip Instagram sends you. Behance, Dribbble, Format, Readymag, Squarespace, Wix and Cargo are not supported.
What comes over
Your projects, each on its own page, with the images and text from your public pages.
Free
Seeing your site from your link, rebuilt, with no signup: the whole home page with every project, and the inside page of three projects. Trying another look, different colours, and the content and its order. Importing is within fair use limits. There are no AI edits and no credits before the payment.
Looks
Your site starts in one of six Looks (Window, Masthead, Index, Poster, Wall, Margin), or in your old site's look if you choose Keep my old site's look. The Look is only where it starts: once the site is yours, you change anything with AI.
Own your site
$39 once per site, plus tax where it applies. Every project unlocked, a case study for each project with enough of your own words to write from (the rest keep what they came with, and a prompt to add a few lines), and two ways to use it. Both come with the studio and 50 credits for AI edits. Take it with you: the whole site as a ZIP as often as you need, up to 20 times a day, a setup kit for Claude Code or Codex, a guide to point your own domain and a redirect file for your old addresses. Go live with us: publishing at promtfolio.com/yourname, your own domain, with each record to copy shown step by step. You can switch whenever you like.
Editing in the studio
On both ways. Ask for a change in plain words, 1 credit per message, from the 50 credits that come with it. Credit packs: 100 for $19, 300 for $49, 1,000 for $129, plus tax where it applies. Credits never expire.
Subscription
None. Every purchase is one time. To change it with AI: in the studio with the included credits, or with Claude Code or Codex on your own account with them. Claude Code needs a paid Claude plan.
Hosting
Hosting costs $0. With Go live with us it is included in the one payment and there is no hosting bill. If you host the files yourself, Netlify and Cloudflare Pages each have a free plan that serves a site of plain files, which is what a portfolio is. The only yearly cost there can be is a domain of your own, and that is optional.
Do you need to know code
No, at no stage. You see your site by pasting a link, and you own it with one payment. To change it, you say what you want in plain words. To put it online, you publish through Promtfolio in one click, or drag the folder onto a hosting page.
Your Adobe Portfolio
Nothing changes on it until you decide. When a Creative Cloud plan ends, Adobe keeps the site live for 14 days, then takes it offline. Adobe offers no export. A myportfolio.com address stays with Adobe; your own domain moves with you.
Adobe
Promtfolio is independent, not affiliated with or endorsed by Adobe.

Questions people ask

Can I download my Adobe Portfolio site?

No. Adobe Portfolio has no download or export option, and its help center documents no way to take a site out. A backup means collecting the page list, the words, the images and the settings yourself.

How do I get a list of every page on my Adobe Portfolio?

Open your site address followed by /sitemap.xml, for example yourname.myportfolio.com/sitemap.xml or yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml. It lists the public pages of the site, which makes a complete checklist for the backup.

Can I get my original images back from Adobe Portfolio?

Not as originals. The site shows web versions of your images, which may be smaller than the files you uploaded. Your originals are wherever you kept them: your computer, Creative Cloud, Lightroom, or a client folder.

What happens to my Adobe Portfolio when I cancel Creative Cloud?

Adobe's help center says the site stays live for a 14 day grace period and then goes offline. The content stays in the editor and can be republished if you subscribe again with the same Adobe ID. Back up before you cancel, not after.

Is there a tool that moves an Adobe Portfolio site?

Yes. Adobe itself offers no export, but Promtfolio (promtfolio.com) reads your public Adobe Portfolio pages the way a visitor does and rebuilds them as a site you can own. Looking is free: the whole home page with every project, and the inside page of three projects. Owning the site is $39 once, plus tax where it applies, with every project page, and two ways to use it: go live with us at promtfolio.com/yourname or on your own domain, or download the files with a setup kit for Claude Code or Codex. Once it's yours, change anything with AI. Promtfolio is independent and not affiliated with Adobe.

Is it possible to back up, export or transfer a website I made with Adobe Portfolio?

Not as a website. Adobe's help center has no article on exporting or downloading a site, and the only transfer it documents is between Adobe accounts. A backup is something you collect yourself: your words in a document and your original images in a folder. To move the whole site, Promtfolio reads your public pages from the link and rebuilds them as a site you own.

Can I export my Adobe Portfolio as a PDF?

Not from Adobe Portfolio itself, but your browser can: print each page and choose PDF as the destination. Adobe Portfolio's help center has no PDF export, so it is one page of the site at a time, and for a single file you then combine those PDFs yourself.

Is it possible to save my website by copying its source code or using inspect element?

Adobe documents no way to do that. What does carry over is the content of your public pages: the words, the images and the order of your projects. That is what Promtfolio reads from your link and rebuilds in its own code.

Is it possible to export my Adobe Portfolio to WordPress?

No. Adobe's help center does not mention WordPress at all, and the only move it documents is between Adobe accounts. Getting to WordPress means rebuilding the pages there by hand. Promtfolio does not produce a WordPress site either: it gives you the site as plain files that run on any static host, or publishes it for you with Go live with us.

Does Adobe Portfolio save automatically?

Yes. Adobe's help center says the Editor autosaves as you work, and suggests clicking out of a text box to make sure a change is saved. Saving is not publishing: visitors see your changes only after you click Publish Site or Update Live Site.

My Adobe Portfolio is gone. Where do I go next?

Start by signing in at portfolio.adobe.com. Adobe's checklist has three causes: the site is unpublished and shows as Draft, the Creative Cloud plan ended, or a custom domain stopped pointing at it. If the plan ended, the content is still in the Editor and can be published again with an eligible plan. If a school or company administrator deleted the account, Adobe says the sites are deleted with it and this cannot be reversed.

How do I download images I uploaded to an old Adobe Portfolio?

Adobe documents no download button for images you uploaded. While the site is live you can save them from its pages in your browser; what you get is a web version, at most 3,840 pixels wide, not your original file. If the site is offline but your Adobe account still works, publishing again with an eligible plan brings the pages back. For a site that is gone, the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine may hold a copy, though it does not always keep the images.

My site is offline. Is there any way I can get access to the contents of the website?

Only through the Adobe account that built it. If you can sign in to that account, the content is in the Editor, and a personal Adobe ID can move its sites to another personal Adobe ID from Settings. If it was a school or company account that has been closed, Adobe says to ask the administrator to reactivate it, and that it cannot recover a Portfolio once the account is gone. Promtfolio cannot help at that point: it reads live public pages, so it needs the site to be online.
